THE DANGERS OF THE ANNAPOLIS CONFERENCE 0

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Sunday, November 25, 2007

Dear Friends,

In the Jerusalem Post of November 22nd, there was an article by Shmuel Katz entitled: “The Looming Danger of Annapolis”. (Shmuel Katz is the man who co-founded the Herut Party- the forerunner of Likud- with Menachem Begin, and was a member of the first Knesset).

Shmuel Katz writes in his article: “The Jewish state is in greater danger than any time since the 1948 War of Independence. The danger stems not from current Arab violence, nor the threat of future violence. It lies in the convocation of the Annapolis conference conceived and promoted with almost frenetic enthusiasm by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice…”

“The PLO and delegates from Arab states, together with representatives from the UN and the European Union- will presumably turn up at the conference. Whoever they are, an analysis of their respective outlooks shows that all the delegates are committed to THE DIMINUTION OF ISRAEL, AND SOME, FRANKLY, HER CONSEQUENT EXTINCTION…”

The Arab League, which decides the framework and makes overall decisions, decreed that the Arab countries should attend the Annapolis conference at the high level of foreign minister. Thus more than 40 countries in all are sending their foreign ministers to Annapolis.

I have collected some items from the Israeli media so that you can get a clearer picture of what, unfortunately, might happen at the conference, which starts in Washington D.C. tomorrow, Monday, November 26, and which continues in Annapolis on Tuesday, November 27th.

Dear Friends: Study this Annapolis “peace conference” schedule very carefully. Question yourselves: Why are the Monday meetings at the White House and the State Department, (Israel’s long-time enemy), only between American and Israeli officials? Why is the Tuesday meeting at the US Naval Academy the ONLY trilateral meeting between President Bush, Prime Minister Olmert and President Abbas?

I get the very uncomfortable feeling that the outcome of the conference has already been discussed and decided between President Bush and the Arabs, and is a fait accompli. [Dictionary definition of “fait accompli”: an action which is completed before those affected by it are in a position to query or reverse it].
All that now remains is to inform the victim of his fate!

In other words, is the fix already in?

First Annapolis Victory
The Arab foreign ministers
By Zvi Bar’el

A phone call by US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, to her Saudi counterpart, Saud al-Faisal, apparently persuaded the Arab foreign ministers to attend Annapolis. The key was her promise that the Golan Heights would be on the agenda. Damascus is still refusing to commit, but that is no longer important: even if Syria stays away, it will now be violating the Arab consensus, which has given its imprimatur to Annapolis.

The Arab states’ agreement to send their foreign ministers is the first American success of the much-criticized conference. But this was not merely a gesture to USA President George Bush; it reflects a two pronged Arab strategy. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan object to Bush’s division of the Middle East into moderate and radical states; they are also no longer willing to leave the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to Washington and Jerusalem.

Thus the main question at last week’s meeting of Arab foreign ministers was what would they gain or lose, by sending high level representatives to Annapolis. The minus side was the risk of granting high-profile Arab support to a failed conference, as well as a seal of approval to the internal Palestinian split between Fatah and Hamas. On the plus side, argued supporters of attending, their presence would help ensure that any Israeli-Palestinian agreement conforms to the Arab peace initiative, which Bush cited in his speech announcing the conference.

Even more important, however, the Arab states needed to ensure that Syria was included, because they- and especially Saudi Arabia- need Syrian help to resolve the crisis in Lebanon. As a bonus, Syria’s inclusion helps blur the American distinction between moderate and radical states; it also creates a linkage between the Palestinian and Syrian tracks.

Bush and Rice scored a victory with the Arab foreign ministers’ agreement to attend. The question is whether they will follow this with further diplomatic action. The US will have trouble mobilizing Arab support of its interests in the future- not only on the Israeli-Palestinian front.

The Great American Delusion
By Ephraim Inbar, Professor of Political Science at Bar Ilan University, and the Director of the Begin-Sadat BESA (Center for Strategic Studies)

The US planned Annapolis conference, whose goals are to facilitate the creation of a democratic Palestinian state- free of corruption and militias- that will live peacefully alongside Israel is doomed to fall. The American initiative rests on several unfounded premises.

The first is that Palestinian society can be reformed by outsiders. Middle-Eastern societies have already proven their resistance to attempts by Western powers to change their old ways of doing business. It is naïve to believe that political and social dynamics rooted in centuries-old traditions can be easily manipulated by well-intentioned, but presumptuous Westerners. President George W. Bush should have learned this lesson from his experience in Iraq.

ARE SAUDI ARABIA AND LIBYA REALLY FRIENDS OF THE UNITES STATES?

From IMRA, November 23rd
imra@netvision.net.il

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Saudi Arabia and Libya were the source of about 60% of foreign fighters who entered Iraq in the past year to participate in the insurgency, the New York Times reported Thursday. [For ‘insurgent’, read ‘terrorist’.]. US forces found documents and computers with information on the foreign fighters in a September raid on a tent camp near the town of Sinjar, close to the Syrian border, the Times said, citing senior US military officials. The target of the raid was an insurgent cell believed to be responsible for smuggling the vast majority of foreign fighters into Iraq, the daily reported. The documents included biographical sketches listing the hometowns of more than 700 fighters who were brought into Iraq since August 2006. Saudi Arabia is a longtime US ally in the region, while the United States restored diplomatic relations with Libya and removed it from its list of state sponsors of terrorism last year.

Talks get wide backing by Arabs; Syria unsure
By Mona el-Naggar and Isabel Kershner

At least 15 Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, said Friday that they would send a cabinet minister to the American-sponsored Middle East conference in Annapolis, Maryland. Syria said it would not go unless its dispute over the Golan Heights was on the agenda.

American Folly
By Caroline Glick

Even though the summit at Annapolis weakens the US’s position vis-a-vi Iran, it might still make sense for Bush and Rice to support Palestinian statehood if doing so enhanced public support for the administration. But the opposite is occurring. Bush’s and Rice’s seeming obsession with Palestinian statehood is being criticized from all sides of the isle.

Critics on the left, like New York Time columnist Thomas Friedman and former Clinton negotiator and Palestinian apologist, Robert Malley, have expressed mystification at the administration’s insistent advance of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians when there is no chance that those negotiations will bring peace. So too, over the past few weeks, four Republican presidential candidates- RUDY GIULIANI, MITT ROMNEY, JOHN MCCAIN AND FRED THOMPSON- have criticized Bush’s and Rice’s Palestinian policies generally and the convening of the conference in Annapolis in particular.

To make us all feel better, I want to quote from an e-mail sent to me by a very good friend, Victor Passenheim:

“I have this dream, really it’s a fantasy, in which the Israeli Government shows up at Annapolis and promptly, before the beginning of the “negotiations”, with all cameras rolling, they give the Arabs and the US the middle finger and declare, in no uncertain terms: ‘Don’t even think of pressuring us ever again in giving away any of our God-given, blood-bought, sovereign land!’
Then they get up and leave at once, back home to Israel.”

Dear Victor,

May God allow your dream to come true! All of us share in your dream!

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

I APOLOGIZE (for being gullible) 0

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Thursday, November 22, 2007

Dear Friends,

In my latest Letter from Jerusalem, of Sunday, November 18th, I issued a warning asking you to carefully investigate the sponsors of any demonstration against the Annapolis Conference before joining.

I wrote as follows:

“In this connection I must issue a very important warning. Investigate the sponsors of any planned demonstration in Annapolis very carefully before joining. For instance, it has come to my attention that some organizations which are not working completely in Israel’s interest, (no names mentioned), are possibly trying to recruit people for their own agendas. One organization that asked Women in Green to join them in their demonstration, turned out to be affiliated with the Hillary Clinton Campaign and the promotion of gay rights in the US.”

I received mostly supportive e-mails, but a few responses were from people who were incensed at my warning.

I do NOT apologize for issuing the warning.

However, I do apologize profusely for not immediately recognizing the incredible deceit attempted upon us. As for my mentioning the organization’s association with the struggle for gay rights– it is neither my business, nor any interest of Women in Green.

I feel the need to share the details of the almost successful “sting” on Women in Green by a nameless organization, headed by a nameless “Mr. X”, which brought me to issue a most necessary warning.

THE BACKGROUND:

I received an e-mail on Nov. 4, with the subject: “Defend Jerusalem” Rallies. “Mr. X” wrote as follows:

Dear Ruth Mater: (my name is Matar…)

Please consider doing your teach-in and be at our Rally in front of the White House on 11/25/07 and also to let your list know of our efforts.

We need your help to get the word out.

Thanks in Shalom,

Signed (Mr. X)
Organization X
Phone number

I was pleased to get this e-mail, especially since Mr. X wrote that he had already obtained a permit for a demonstration on November 25, 2007, from noon to 5 PM, at Lafayette Park across from the White House in Washington D.C.

As he requested, I phoned Mr. X at the number he gave in his e-mail, to tell him that I unfortunately could not be in the United States on the date in question, but that Women in Green in the United States might be interested in participating in this November 25 rally, especially since he had already obtained a permit.

However, I told Mr. X that I was not familiar with his work, or that of his organization, and that I needed to know more about both before I could make a commitment for the Women in Green. I stressed that we could work together only if we were 100% certain that we are on the same political wavelength, namely that the Land of Israel is the Biblical Inheritance of the Jewish People, and that no parts of Jerusalem or Israel can be bartered away at the Annapolis Conference.

This is where the incredible deceit of Mr. X comes into play. He assured me that this was exactly his point of view, and that we were completely on the same wavelength. I agreed, therefore, to alert our people in the United States about the November 25 rally in Washington, DC. I even foolishly gave Mr. X the phone numbers of some of our key people in the States.

Shortly thereafter, I received a great number of phone calls and emails from Women in Green supporters in the United States, who demanded to know how I could be so naive and careless as to suggest joining forces with Mr. X without knowing his true orientation. This orientation, they said, is diametrically opposed to that of Women in Green.

They informed me that Mr. X is closely identified with the Hillary Clinton for President campaign, and that he was apparently trying to hitch a ride on the popularity of the Women in Green organization in the United States.

After receiving this information, I again phoned Mr. X and accused him of not being up front with me, since by no means could I be considered to be an admirer nor a supporter of Hillary Clinton. I bluntly told Mr. X that I felt he had been rather deceitful with our organization. I warned him that under no circumstances should he dare to make use of the name of Women in Green nor the names of Ruth or Nadia Matar.

Incredibly, he told me to calm down, that in his opinion no harm had been done, since he himself is no longer as active in the Hillary Clinton campaign as he had been heretofore. He even had the effrontery to tell me that there was, therefore, no reason to end the cooperation we had discussed in our first phone conversation.

I now know from further study of the Internet, that he is as prominent as ever in the Hillary Clinton campaign. I found the following letter from Mr. X to a Ms. Y on the Internet, dated November 11, 2007, just a few days ago:

“Hillary has dropped 11 points since the Philly debate. It’s been two weeks of bad news getting worse. I’m organizing the following rallies to keep Jerusalem united, which Hillary already made a statement on in Sept. This would be an opportunity for her to support keeping Jerusalem united with us at our rally in D.C. or Annapolis, bring the media and put yourself in the middle of the Summit that Bush/Rice/Olmert are pushing that only endanger Israel and the U.S.

Please let me know,
Mr. X”

This exchange between Mr. X and Ms. Y clearly proves that there is more concern with Hillary’s campaign than the danger faced by Jerusalem and Israel at the Annapolis Conference!

Women in Green have not as yet chosen to support any candidate for President in the 2008 elections. However, I can say with iron-clad certainty that Women in Green will not support the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.

Why am I so adamantly opposed to Hillary Clinton as President of the United States?

Personally, I will never forget or forgive Hillary Clinton for her relationship with Yasser Arafat’s wife, Suha. At a conference in November of 1999, while on a state visit to the Middle East, Hillary Clinton sat by silently while Suha publicly told vicious lies about the Jewish People. When Suha ended her poisonous tirade, Hillary Clinton jumped up to hug and kiss her.

When she was subsequently criticized for this bizarre behavior, Hillary Clinton said she was unable to understand the translation into English of Suha’s speech, due to malfunction of her ear phones, or some such nonsense!

The following is an article entitled: “ISRAEL’S FRIEND OR FOE?” about Hillary Clinton, by Yedidya Atlas. This article from November 7, 2000, article details what Hillary “Terrorist Enabler” Clinton did that showed who she really is. Here is something that you should never forget about her.

ISRAEL’S FRIEND OR FOE?
by Yedidya Atlas Nov. 7 ‘00 / Heshvan 9, 5761
Tomorrow, American-Jewish voters will make their decision whether to cast their ballot in New York’s Senate race for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, or for Republican candidate Rep. Rick Lazio. If Israel’s security is a deciding factor in their considerations, then a review of their respective positions BEFORE they became candidates and began running after the key Jewish voting bloc reveals basic differences between the two.

WHAT DID THEY SAY BEFORE?
An in-depth study of Congressman Rick Lazio’s eight-year track record voting in the House of Representatives on issues related to Israel shows that he has been a 100% supporter of Israel. A member of the Republican Israel Caucus and a member of the House Budget Committee, Lazio has been a consistent supporter of foreign aid bills and the continuation of US aid to Israel. He has also been an outspoken supporter of American recognition of Jerusalem as the undivided Capital of Israel ¬ including signing a Congressional letter to the President urging the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, and not signing a Congressional letter calling on the President to pressure Israel to stop construction of Jerusalem’s Har Homa neighborhood. Lazio has also co-sponsored two pieces of legislation that call for official U.S. recognition and construction of an embassy in Jerusalem. If Israel is the issue, then his record - which is on the record - speaks for itself.

HILLARY RUSHED TO SUPPORT PALESTINIAN STATE
And Hillary Rodham-Clinton? Well, in May 1998, she told a youth conference on Middle East peace in Villars, Switzerland, that she supports the eventual creation of an independent Palestinian state. Her spokesperson, Marsha Berry told reporters: “These remarks are her own personal view.” Then, in November 1999, while on a purported State visit to the Middle East, she publicly appeared with Yasser Arafat’s wife Suha. With Hillary at her side, Suha Arafat made the deliberately false allegation that “Our [Palestinian] people have been submitted to the daily and intensive use of poisonous gas by the Israeli forces, which has led to an increase in cancer cases among women and children.” Mrs. Arafat also accused Israel of contaminating much of the water sources used by Palestinians with “chemical materials” and poisoning Palestinian women and children with toxic gases.

Instead of reacting with outrage, Hillary Clinton sat by silently - and gave her a hug and a kiss when she finished speaking. Later, many hours after the event, and only after a media furor put her on the spot for what many view as a bit more than a mere political “faux pas”, Mrs. Clinton called on “all sides” to refrain from “inflammatory rhetoric and baseless accusations” - including Israel, whose leaders made no such accusations. Glossing over this remarkably repugnant affair, Mrs. Clinton has yet to specifically contradict and denounce the monstrous lies uttered by Yasser Arafat’s wife in her presence.

MONEY FROM THE AMERICAN MUSLIM ALLIANCE
Hence, it is no wonder that the American Muslim Alliance chapter in Massachusetts held what it called a “successful fundraiser” for First Lady Hillary Clinton at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston on June 13, 2000. AMA Massachusetts Chair Tahir Ali said afterwards, “We are attempting to send an important message to all AMA chapters: we must support all who have [Muslim] interests at heart, regardless of what part of the country they are running in.”

EMERSON’S TESTIMONY
According to Steve Emerson, a well-known investigative journalist specializing in militant Islamic organizations, the AMA’s leaders “have sanctioned terrorism, published anti-Semitic statements, and repeatedly hosted conferences that were forums for denunciations of Jews and exhortations to wage jihad.” Faced with pressure on the matter, Mrs. Clinton announced on Oct. 25th that she was returning the $50,000 in campaign contributions raised for her by the AMA. She failed to give a credible explanation as to why it took her more than four months ¬ from June 13th until October 25th ¬ until she saw it necessary to return the money.

Mr. Emerson, in a recent Wall Street Journal article, noted: “As first lady, Mrs. Clinton began in 1996 an outreach program to Muslim leaders in the U.S. With America’s Muslim population at some six million and growing, an effort to include the community’s leaders in the mainstream of American politics is unquestionably a worthy undertaking. But curiously, nearly all of the leaders with whom Mrs. Clinton elected to meet came from Islamic fundamentalist organizations. A review of the statements, publications and conferences of the groups Mrs. Clinton embraced shows unambiguously that they have long advocated or justified violence. By meeting with these groups, the first lady lent them legitimacy as “mainstream” and “moderate”.”

But this should not be unexpected, considering Mrs. Clinton’s past radical affiliations. During the 1980’s, ultra-liberal lawyer Hillary Rodham-Clinton served on the board of the New World Foundation, which funneled money to the Palestine Liberation Organization, at a time when the PLO was officially recognized by the United States as a terrorist organization.

Similarly, in February 1996, Hillary hosted a reception at the White House for leaders of Hamas-supporting groups such as the American Muslim Council and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. And in January, 1998, Hillary hosted another White House reception honoring Muslim leaders and the Muslim Public Affairs Council who defended militant Islamic fundamentalism and also supported radical Islamic groups.

THE REAL HILLARY
This, then, is the real Hillary Rodham-Clinton. An ambitious woman willing to utter any banal cliche on behalf of “Israel’s security” to placate unaware New York Jewish voters, but one whose pre-Senate race record on Israel is appalling. It’s a record of supporting the terrorist PLO, even before the 1993 signing of the first Oslo Agreement on the White House lawn, of ignoring blatant calumny heaped on Israel by Suha Arafat, of supporting the creation of a Palestinian PLO State, of hosting and legitimizing extremist Islamic groups in the United States. Most recently, it included taking campaign contributions from these very same evil, anti-Semitic organizations - until being caught with her hand in the extremist Islamic cookie jar. This is the very same Hillary Rodham-Clinton who now claims to be Israel’s friend.

Her record says otherwise.

* * * *
Dear friends, the Jewish state is in greater danger than in any time since the 1948 War of Independence. May G-d help us to be successful in our fight against the gang rape of Israel by its many powerful enemies.

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

As Caroline Glick wrote in her column of this Friday:

“The only way to prevent Kadima from moving forward with its most dangerous grand strategy to date is to bring down the government by forcing Israel Beiteinu and Shas to bolt the coalition. They are feeling the heat. But it has to be turned up several notches.”

Women in Green call upon all to join the vigil in front of Yisrael Beiteinus offices:

This Tuesday, November 20 at 11:00 am, Yirmiyahu street 78, Jerusalem (behind the Central Bus Station)

We will hand out the special flyers Women in Green made up for this campaign calling upon the public to pressure the Yisrael Beitteinu MK’s to leave the government.

With the coming of the winter rains an amazing natural phenomenon takes place near Ma’aleh Rehavam. In the river bed at the foot of the settlement, between the desert rocks, thousands of autumn crocuses appear, egg-yolk in color (the source of their Hebrew name - Helmoniot).

They are amongst the most beautiful of the flowers of Eretz Yisrael. The largest concentration of this rare, attractive flower is found here.

Come on Friday, November 23 or November 30, between 10:00 and 14:00, for a free tour to the beautiful flowers. There are signs for those who wish to go by themselves.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES 0

Dear Friends,

As  the Annapolis nightmare is coming nearer, more and more people are waking up, understanding that we must act immediately to prevent a catastrophe from occurring.

Women in Green calls upon all to join in the following activities:

1) TOMORROW WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th, 2007, WOMEN IN GREEN CHIZUK trip to Hebron.

We will start by visiting our heroic brothers who live in the “Beth Hashalom” building in the most difficult conditions. The government does not allow them to put in windows because “such an act will change the status-quo of the house”. All they were allowed to do was put up nylon sheets on the windows. This will certainly not be enough to protect them from the upcoming harsh Hevron winter days. Despite that, not one of the many families who live there with children and babies have left. We will come to give them strength, but as usual it will be us who will be strengthened.

We will drive to Hevron by car, leaving the Gush Etzion intersection at 10:00am. Because there are often last-minute changes, it is of utmost importance that you call us and tell us whether you intend to come.
Please call Anita at 0505-777-254 or Nadia 0505-500-834

AS WE GO TO PRINT, we are told that the Shvut Ami youth who are still in jail, are appealing their arrest and might appear in front of the Supreme Court in Jerusalem tomorrow Wednesday. If that is the case, Women in Green will go to the Supreme Court and not to Hevron. Please call us at 8:00 am tomorrow.

——————————————————————————————–

2) MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19th ,2007
NEW WOMEN IN GREEN CAMPAIGN: AVIGDOR LIEBERMAN!! LEAVE THE GOVERNMENT TODAY!!

Women in Green will launch its campaign to pressure Lieberman to leave the government by holding a vigil in front of the Yisrael Beiteinu offices-
When: MONDAY, November 19th at 11:00 am
Where: Jerusalem, Yirmiyahu street 78 (behind the Central Bus Station)

Once again, be in touch with us to make sure that there are no last minute changes!

The attached Hebrew cartoon was commissioned from a graphic artist. It shows a caricature of Lieberman as a chair and says:

LIEBERMAN!
The Land of Israel- NYET!
A seat in the government- DA!
SHAME ON YOU! LEAVE THE GOVERNMENT IMMEDIATELY!
An additional page of the same Hebrew flyer says:

AVIGDOR LIEBERMAN
YOU CAN PREVENT THE DISASTER!
THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL EXPECT YOU TO SHOW NATIONAL LEADERSHIP!
If you do not shoulder this responsibility,
We will Never Forgive You and Your Party!
Every minute that you still remain in the government, you enable Ehud Olmert to progress in implementing his catastrophic plan:

* to establish a Palestinian terrorist state in the heart of Eretz Israel

* to divide Jerusalem and hand over the Temple Mount to the Muslims

* to withdraw from all of Judea and Samaria, Israel’s Biblical Heartland

* to give the Arab enemy control of the mountain ridges, which will leave all the inhabitants of central Israel open to Katyushas

* to implement the mass expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Jews

* to bring Arab “refugees” into Israel and recognize the “Right of Return”

* to release terrorist murderers with blood on their hands

Do you want to be remembered in history as someone who was guided by his personal interests of money and a Cabinet seat, or as someone who took national responsibility and prevented the destruction of the third Jewish Commonwealth?

Leave the government, today, before you are added to the list of  Oslo Criminals - Expulsion (”Disengagement”) Criminals and Annapolis Criminals!

———————————————————————————————-

Dear friends of Israel, in order to prevent the Annapolis disaster, we must bring the government down. As long as Lieberman and Yishai remain in the government, the Olmert government survives. If Avigdor Lieberman leaves the government, Eli Yishai and Shas will also leave the government!

Anyone who holds dear the future of the State of Israel is asked to inundate the offices of Avigdor Lieberman and the other members of Yisrael Beitenu with faxes and telephone calls, with the demand:

Leave the government today and save the Land of Israel and the People of Israel !

Presented as a public service by Women for Israel’s Tomorrow - Women in Green www.womeningreen.org

—————————————————————————————-

In order for this campaign to have an effect, we need to publicize it far and wide.

For instance, we need to put this as an ad in this week’s Russian newspaper called VESTY. We also need to paste the posters all over Jerusalem and other areas in the country. We therefore turn to you and urge you to help us financially with this campaign. Very often people call us and tell us: well, why isn’t there a campaign going on, why is it so quiet?

Many people don’t realize that such campaigns cost a great deal of money.

Here are a few details with regard to the expenses of such a campaign:

* a half page ad in the news section of Vesty for this weekend: 12,200 NIS +vat (i.e. approximately $3,500)
* the caricaturist: 900 NIS + vat ($220)
* graphic artist : 2500 NIS + vat ($750)
* 1000 posters (size 50×70cm) :2100 NIS + vat ($700)
* 10,000 flyers in Hebrew and Russian : 2500 NIS + vat ($750)
* and last but not least: ads in other newspapers (Hebrew and English) that ad up to at least $8,000

In one word, if we want to turn this into a effective campaign, we must raise at least $15,000.

We need you desperately! We cannot do this without your help!

Alternative ‘Jewish Sovereignty’ Summit Planned
13 November 07
by Hillel Fendel, IsraelNationalNews.com

(IsraelNN.com) A dozen Jewish organizations have united to hold a “summit” calling for Jewish sovereignty over all of the Land of Israel, meeting on the same day as the Annapolis summit.  The title: Sovereignty for the Jewish Nation Over the State of the Land of Israel.

Spokesperson Susie Dym explained, “What is happening in Israel, and consequently among passive Jewish leaders elsewhere, is that our political leadership has abandoned the goal of furthering the Jewish people in the Jewish state, and has gone towards the goal of building a Palestinian state and advancing the Palestinians’ interests. The situation has become absurd, in that our government is working towards the antithesis of what it should be.”

“Recognizing that the Jewish Nation does not have a representative body,” the formative statement begins, “and greatly fearing that the government in Israel is undermining the fundamental interests of Jewish existence (based on its declarations and actions in anticipation of the Annapolis summit), we - many right-wing movements and organizations - have united together to convene a counter-summit.  Our goal is to emphasize what we stand ‘for,’ not ‘against.’”

“Our door is open to all those who want to further the interests of the Jewish people,” Dym said.

The founding session of the New Jewish Congress will be held on the 17th day of Kislev, Nov. 27, in Jerusalem - the day on or after the scheduled Annapolis summit.  The date for the Annapolis meeting has not yet been finally set.

The idea of the alternative summit, the organizers say, is to “establish the first-stage organizational and conceptual skeleton that will promote a congress to represent the entire nation, including hareidim, during the course of Nissan (April 2008).”

Among the initiating organizations are: Manhigut Yehudit (Jewish Leadership), Land of Israel Task Force, Cities of Israel, the Temple Institute, and the Sanhedrin.  Also participating are Mateh Tzafon, Task Force to Save the Land of Israel, Women in Green, Nahalal Forum, and Honenu.

Rabbis who have lent their support include Kiryat Arba/Hevron Chief Rabbi Dov Lior, Sanhedrin President Rabbi Adin Steinzaltz, Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpe of Chabad, Rabbi Yoel Schwartz, Rabbi Yisrael Ariel and more.%ad%

Participating public figures include Yoram Ettinger, Prof. Paul Eidelberg, Dr. Yossi Ben-Aharon, Prof. Gabi Barkai, Prof. Hillel Weiss, Atty. Aviad Visuly, Prof. Aryeh Zaritsky, Architect Gideon Charlop, Nadia Matar, Shmuel Medad, Dr. Uri Milstein, Aryeh Stav, Moshe Feiglin, Ronen Tzafrir, and many more.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES-This Sunday!! 0

Dear Friends,

1) This Sunday morning, November 11th, the 12 youngsters who were arrested last week in Shvut Ami next to kedumim for the “crime” of living on a hill in Eretz Yisrael- will be brought to trial once again. As you remember, the youth refuse to agree to be banned from the entire Shomron for a month and thus have been in jail for almost a week.

This is simply outrageous. Last week tens of Druze committed a pogrom against the Jews who live in Pekiin in the Galil. Two houses of Jews were burnt. Lots of Jewish property was destroyed and ruined. Not one of the pogromchiks was arrested let alone banned from Pekiin.

When extreme leftists and anarchists violently demonstrate against the building of the “Separation Fence” even wounding soldiers (in Biliin one soldier lost an eye after leftists threw rocks at him) and destroying property, they are very rarely arrested and certainly never banned from anywhere in Israel.

But when young Jews settle a barren hill in Israel, continuing the Zionist enterprise and showing love for the land of Israel- they are violently arrested, beaten, put in jail for over a week and told they have to be banned from the entire Shomron.

Those youth who refuse to sign the eviction order are real heroes and we must come to court and show support. Especially now, on the eve of Annapolis, when many more battles await us.

SO: COME ONE COME ALL TO THE COURT

THIS SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11th at 11:00 AM
AT THE KFAR SABA SHALOM COURT
TCHERNECHOVSKY STREET
Close to Tsomet Raanana

Call your friends and family in Raanana, Kfar saba, Tel Aviv, and tell them about it. Urge them to join

IMPORTANT:
Because the authorities often, very last minute, change the time and place of the court session, especially when they hear that supporters will come from all over, it is of utmost importance you call us on Sunday morning around 9:00am, to make sure no changes were made

Nadia Matar Back in Court for “Judenrat” Letter
28 Cheshvan 5768, 09 November 07 01:48
by Ezra HaLevi
(IsraelNN.com) Women in Green activist Nadia Matar found herself back in court Thursday, with the state appealing its suit against her for a strongly-worded letter sent to Disengagement Authority chief Yonatan Bassi.

Prior to the 2005 Disengagement, Matar dispatched a letter to Bassi, a member of the religious Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, comparing the wording of the letter he sent to residents of Gush Katif to that sent by the Judenrat (“Jewish Council”) in 1942 Germany, which oversaw the “relocation” of Jews from Germany.

Matar’s trial revolves around the passage in her letter: “Yonatan. The truth is that you are a modern-day version of the Judenrat - in reality, a much worse version, because in the Holocaust, the Jewish leaders were forced to act by the Nazis and today it’s very hard for us to judge them. Today, no one is standing with a gun to your head and forcing you to participate in the deportation of the Jews of Gush Katif and northern Samaria.”

The Jerusalem Magistrates Court dismissed the indictment against Matar, ruling that the law had been applied selectively after hearing examples of incendiary statements by left-wing activists and politicians who were not prosecuted.

The state prosecutor appealed to the District Court, which accepted the appeal on the condition that the prosecution provide examples countering the lower court’s conclusion that the laws was applied selectively to right and left-wing activists.

Attorney Yoram Sheftel is confident that Matar will once again prevail. He says there are ample cases of selective application of the “insulting a public servant” law. “If a left-wing personality, extremist or traitorous says the most outrageous thing about a judge, minister, senior police officer or other civil servant, he will never be put on trial,” Sheftel told Israel National TV. “But the most minor statement by a right-winger even a fourteen-year-old, like the girl who held a sign outside Supreme Court Justice Ayala Procaccia’s house reading ‘Provocaccia’ (provocation, in Hebrew)   they will find themselves both arrested and prosecuted.”

Asked if she had any regrets, Matar said: “I regret only that I didn’t write even stronger words. What I wrote was too moderate when compared with the results of this expulsion. Our brothers were not only expelled from their homes, our land abandoned to murderous terrorists, but further destruction is now planned and I fear nobody is using strong enough language. My regret is that we were all too reserved in our protest of this crime and I promise that this time it will be different.”

At the first trial, Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Yisrael Aumann joined a protest outside the courthouse. “It is scandalous.- that freedom of speech is being attacked, just like in the cases of the soldier Hananel [Dayan who refused to shake hands with the Chief of Staff due to his role in the Disengagement ed.], the closing of Arutz-7, and the hearing that was held for [Disengagement opponent] Rabbi Druckman. Individuals are being singled out for expressing their views,” he lamented.

Why “Judenrat”?
Matar, during the early days of media condemnations that resulted in the determined government effort to have her prosecuted, explained her use of the term “Judenrat,” which many critics claimed implied the Israeli government were Nazis. Note that the words were written prior to the implementation of the Disengagement:

“The Jewish public in Israel and the world, from the left and the right, is divided on the question of the permissibility of the use of Holocaust terminology. Is it legitimate to compare then and now? Doesn’t the use of terms from, and comparisons with, the Holocaust diminish the horrors of the destruction of European Jewry? Some say that the entire subject of the Holocaust is untouchable. It is sacred, and we are not allowed to use any word that recalls the Holocaust, because there is no situation today that can be comparable to what was then. I respect those who hold such an opinion, and I know that I cannot convince them to think otherwise. Since, however, they do not have a monopoly on the Holocaust, I am entitled to disagree with them and maintain that it is very important to make comparisons, to draw conclusions, and to act so that there will not be another Holocaust.

“I was born and raised in Belgium. A considerable portion of my family was destroyed in the Holocaust. Throughout my childhood I heard from my grandparents about the stories and about the horrors. Already at a young age I made a promise to myself to do everything so that it would not happen again, that I would act so that the murder of my family would not have been for nothing, that I would do everything not to forget, and not to forgive.

In my humble opinion, the Holocaust is an event that could recur, in some form or other, if we do not open our eyes and understand that the Nazi monster is still breathing, and attempting to continue what Hitler, may his memory be blotted out, did not have time to finish. I am speaking of the Arabs around us, who have been trying, even from before the establishment of the State of Israel, to eliminate any Jewish existence in Eretz Israel, regardless of our borders. The Arabs have been murdering us on a daily basis from the days of the pogroms in 1929 (when it could not be claimed that we were “occupiers”). They slaughter Jews at every opportunity, whether in war or in terror attack, cold-bloodedly firing at the heads of Jewish infants. Muslim suicide bombers explode buses, pizza parlors, and discotheques full of Jews. It is they who are the modern version of the Nazis. Every thinking person knows, or should know, that Hitler’s legacy plays a starring role in the Muslim world. Hitler’s book Mein Kampf is a bestseller in all the Arab countries. Everyone knows, or should know, that the hero of the Arabs, Haj Amin el-Husseini, was Hitler’s close friend, and together they planned the Holocaust of the Jews of Eretz Israel. Every intelligent person knows, or should know, that all the wars and terror attacks by the Arabs against us have the same goal: the total destruction of the State of Israel, and the elimination of all its Jewish inhabitants. Every intelligent person knows, or should know, that every sign of weakness, submission, or retreat by Israel will encourage the Nazi-Arab enemy and incite him to engage in more and more terror.

“Consequently, every political plan that will merely play into the hands of the Nazi-Arab enemy and bring him closer to his final goal, that is, the removal of the Jews from Israel and the elimination of the Jewish state, is a dangerous plan against which we must sound the alarm. While, during the Holocaust, the Jews of the Judenrat played into the hands of the Nazi foe when they (unwillingly) collaborated and aided in the deportation of the Jews (without knowing the destination of the transports); today, Sharon’s deportation plan also plays into the hands of the Nazi-Arab enemy, incites him to murder more and more Jews, and is liable - if, Heaven forbid, it were to be realized - to result in tens of thousands of murdered Jews, by Katushas and rockets fired from Gaza and northern Samaria to the densely populated centers in Gush Dan. In addition, Sharon’s plan would give fuel to the antisemites in the world. They would rightfully say: “If a Jewish government can uproot Jews and deport them from their historic homeland; we in Europe can do the same and deport our Jews far away from here”. Thus, in my eyes, the comparison between Yonatan Bassi (and Ariel Sharon) and the Judenrat is definitely appropriate. With the proviso that Bassi and Sharon constitute a much more horrible version, since, unlike the Judenrat of then, today, there is no one holding a gun to Sharon and Bassi’s forehead and demanding that they commit the deportation crime.”

IS ISRAEL A DEMOCRACY? 0

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Thursday, November 8, 2007

Dear Friends,

On the 12th anniversary of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, Betar Jerusalem soccer fans booed when requested to stand for a few moments of silence in his memory.

Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, himself a fan of the Betar team, said: “I detest these brutish and violent people who, I am sorry to say, are a sizeable sector of the fans. I want to state in the clearest, angriest terms, that this behavior– not of a small group… was wicked and unbearable”.

The head of the Israeli soccer federation, Avi Luzon, told Israel Radio: “It was not just a handful- that is what is so appalling. It was, I am afraid, the majority of the crowd that was there.”

Some of the local analysts are of the opinion that this event is a violation of democracy, and shows disrespect for democracy itself.

On the contrary, I feel that the booing at the memory of Rabin was an outlet of the pent-up emotions of the soccer fans. They no doubt feel that vital, existential decisions had been made by Rabin without any public consent, and that successive Israeli governments continue in his footsteps of disregard for the opinions of the people of Israel.

1. In 1991, the Madrid Conference held by President George Herbert W. Bush, (the father of President George W. Bush) paved the way for the Oslo Accords.

2. In 1992, Rabin signed the catastrophic Oslo Accords with Yasser Arafat, without at all taking into account the will of the Israeli people.

3. In 2005, Ariel Sharon launched the disastrous unilateral disengagement from Gaza without the consent of the people. In fact, people harbored such strong feelings at the time, that there was much concern and fear of a civil war breaking out!

4. And finally, today, at the end of 2007, Ehud Olmert is agreeing to attend the Annapolis Conference, where the current United States President, George W. Bush, is intent on carving another Arab terrorist state out of what is left of Israel.

I have a strong feeling that the soccer fans at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem booed as one because of their frustration at the lack of democracy in Israel ever since Rabin signed the Oslo Accords.

They are fully aware of the intentions of the very unpopular Olmert Government to continue in Rabin’s footsteps. Olmert is potentially poised to take decisions at the Annapolis so-called “peace conference”, that could profoundly affect Israel’s security, future, and in fact, its very survival as a Jewish State.

Olmert not only ignores the opinions of the people; he states without shame that he DOES NOT EVEN NEED KNESSET APPROVAL to reach a joint declaration with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Annapolis.

Ehud Olmert acts as if Israel were his private real-estate. He has made himself a virtual dictator! He has no regard for democracy whatsoever!

We must therefore get rid of Olmert before he gets rid of us!

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES 0

Dear Friends,

The following are last-minute changes and additions to our latest email:

1) The State of Israel vs Nadia Matar in the Jonathan Bassi case will be held TOMORROW, THURSDAY, November 8th at 8:30am in the Shalom Court in front of Judge David Mintz (and not on Sunday as previously mentioned.)

The public is asked to come and show support.

2) Update on the youth arrested last Sunday at “Shvut Ami” next to Kedumim for the “crime” of settling the land of Israel:

Twelve youth are still incarcerated. This Wednesday morning they appeared in front of a judge in Kfar Saba. They were told that they would be released if they would identify themselves and sign a document that orders them not to set foot in the Shomron for a full month. Our wonderful heroic youth refused to sign such an outrageous order banning them from setting foot in the Land of Israel and thus were sent back to jail till Sunday.

This coming Sunday, November 11th they will once again appear before a judge. Women in Green calls upon all to come and show support.

We do not have the details yet as to where and when (probably in Kfar Saba).
Anyone who wants to join us in court is asked to call us on Friday when we hopefully will have more details.

ANNAPOLIS, A MICROCOSM OF AMERICAN JEWRY? 0

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Thursday, November 1, 2007
Dear Friends,

It seems that the actual date for the Annapolis “Peace Conference” still remains a mystery.

The different Jewish communities in Annapolis apparently have very different approaches toward the upcoming Annapolis “Peace Conference”.

I read a most interesting article in last Friday’s Jerusalem Post, entitled: “Annapolis Jews Plan for Summit”. The sub-title was: “Protests, Peace Rallies and Prayers being prepared”. (The entire article is included at the end of this Letter).

I found this article very interesting because I feel that the Jewish community of Annapolis is a veritable microcosm, reflecting attitudes of present day American Jewry.

Rabbi Ari Goldstein of the Reform Temple, Beth Shalom, the largest synagogue of Annapolis, said his Synagogue was planning a peace rally for the beginning of December with music, food and a march.

How sad that Rabbi Goldstein feels the Annapolis Conference is a joyous occasion, while many Jews are afraid it will turn out to be a gang rape of Israel,

Rabbi Goldstein also said he would invite Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to read from the Torah. If Tzipi Livni indeed is allowed to read from the Torah, she should choose a passage relevant to the Annapolis Peace Conference: “The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are sojourners and residents with me.” (Leviticus, 25:23)

Stuart Schoenberg, who is a member of Kneseth Israel, the Orthodox Synagogue in Annapolis, said he was much less enthusiastic about the summit than Goldstein. He said that he would join protests against the summit that are expected to take place.

“Israel should not be pressured every time there is a President at the end of his term looking out for his legacy”, Schoenberg said. “We should not create a terrorist state.”

There is certainly a pronounced difference in the way Reform Jews and Orthodox Jews in Annapolis envision the ways they can help Israel.

I searched the websites of both the Reform and Orthodox synagogues with regard to their respective attitudes toward Israel.

On the website of Temple Beth Shalom, the Reform synagogue, there are various support options to help Israel:

1. Assist Magen David Adom to provide emergency medical treatment to those wounded by terrorist bombings.

2. Provide direct aid to the survivors of the attacks and their families.

3. Provide trauma services to violent-stricken areas.

4. Provide IDF soldiers with gifts of personal articles- toiletries, suntan lotion, shaving cream, underwear, socks, etc. - to individuals serving active duty in the IDF. Enclosing a personal note of support!

5. Participate through a great program sponsored by Elite (the chocolate manufacturer) and Heritage Affinity Credit Cards. Go to their web site, and send a personal message of support; they will send a chocolate bar with the message to an IDF soldier.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Orthodox synagogue, Kneseth Israel, is more serious. On their web site I found that they are concerned with the larger picturethe survival of Israel as a Jewish State.

Under the title “Israel Advocacy” I found the following:
Throughout the existence of Israel and especially during the past two decades, many stories have surfaced about the Middle East situation.  Inaccurate accounts of the history, military, and politics regarding the State of Israel have influenced the general public’s view.  It is our duty as Jews to educate ourselves and others in the truth of the matter.

This introduction was followed by a number of articles on the topic of Israel advocacy and awareness.

The following is a link to an article that is a “must read” for the participants of the Annapolis Conference:

“From Abraham to Statehood – Israel’s Right to the Land”
Rabbi Moshe Pinchas Weisblum, Kneseth Israel, Annapolis.
http://www.congki-annapolis.org/Israel’sRightofExistence.htm

Annapolis has a Chabad house as well. Rabbi Nochum Light of Chabad said he would not give his political opinion about the summit, but that he would be ready to provide kosher food, lodging and Shabbat services to its participants.

Rabbi Light said that during the summit his synagogue would host special prayers “for the safety of Israel and the peace of the Jewish People”.

The congregants of the Orthodox Kneseth Israel Synagogue rightly do not accept that George W. Bush is entitled to divide the G-d-given land of Israel. They find it essential to engage in political action to prevent the potentially horrific outcome of the Conference.

For Bible believing Jews, it is very clear that the Holy Land was given to the descendants of Abraham as an everlasting inheritance.

If and when the so-called “Annapolis Peace Conference” takes place, all of us, who believe in G-d’s word, should try to take part in some form or other, even though President Bush has not invited us to participate.

Who do I mean by “all of us”? Christians, Jews, all of us Americans and all right-thinking people worldwide, who are not beholden to the Arab oil cartel.

We plan to hold our own Conference a Zionist Conference. The locale has not yet been decided upon.

We also plan to demonstrate in multitudes against the giveaway of the Land of Israel to the Muslim-Fascist enemy.

The planned Annapolis Conference has aptly been named “the gang rape of Israel”. With G-d’s help, these evil plans will come to naught.

With Love and Blessings for Israel,

Ruth Matar

Annapolis Jews plan for summit
GIL HOFFMAN, Jerusalem Post Correspondent, THE JERUSALEM POST
October 26, 2007
No date has been set for the Annapolis summit and it is still unclear whether the conference will even take place, but the Jews of Annapolis are already planning peace rallies, protests and prayers.

Rabbi Ari Goldstein of Temple Beth Shalom in Annapolis said he was “thrilled” at the prospect that his town could soon become the focus of attention for Jews around the world. He said his Reform synagogue was planning a peace rally for the beginning of December with music, food and a march to the World War II Memorial overlooking the Annapolis Naval Academy where the summit is set to take place.

“I am confident that the Israelis and Palestinians are going to try to make Annapolis into a true house of peace,” said Goldstein, whose synagogue’s name means house of peace in Hebrew. “Beth Shalom is a great supporter of peace and nothing would make me happier than peace emerging from our own backyard.”

Goldstein, who leads missions to Israel every two years, said the summit would provide Annapolis with an opportunity to showcase itself to the Jewish and Zionist world. He said he would invite the head of the Israeli delegation to the summit, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, to read from the Torah at his synagogue.

Steven Forman, who attends Beth Shalom, said he hoped Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries would send representatives to the summit. He said he would attend the peace rally and would invite the Israeli and Arab delegations to his home for breakfast.

Beth Shalom is the town’s largest synagogue, with some 270 families. The Orthodox Kneseth Israel synagogue boasts a Jewish day school.

Annapolis also has a Conservative synagogue named Kol Ami and a Chabad house.

Stuart Schoenberg, who is a member of Kneseth Israel, said he was much less enthusiastic about the summit than Goldstein. Schoenberg said he would join protests against the summit that are expected to take place.

“Israel should not be pressured every time there is a president at the end of his term looking out for his legacy,” Schoenberg said. “We should not create a terrorist state.”

Rabbi Nochum Light of the Chabad of Anne Arundel County said he would not give his political opinion about the summit, but that he would be ready to provide kosher food, lodging and Shabbat services to its participants.

Light said that during the summit his synagogue would host special prayers “for the safety of Israel and the peace of the Jewish people.”
