PRESIDENT BUSH 0

PRESIDENT BUSH, HOW WILL DIVIDING THE HOLY LAND BENEFIT
THE STATE OF YOUR UNION?

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Dear Friends,

Early Tuesday morning, 4:00 am Israeli time, January 29th 2008, I turned on the TV to watch President George W. Bush give his State of the Union address.

As you know, the STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS is the annual message which the President of the United States gives to Congress, usually to a joint session of Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate).

Modeled after the monarch’s Speech from the Throne during the State Opening of Parliament in the United Kingdom, such a report is required by the United States Constitution.

“He shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” (Article II, Section 3)

President Bush spoke about his ideas as to how he would help the poor; improve the country’s educational system; and how his administration plans to provide healthcare for every American citizen, etc., etc.

Towards the end of his speech, President Bush addressed various problems of the rest of the world, such as fighting disease in Africa, world hunger, etc. To my complete amazement, he then proceeded at length to discuss his ideas for resolving the Middle East dispute.

As the President went into his usual mantra about a peaceful two-state solution- “The time has come for a Holy Land where a democratic Israel and a democratic Palestine live side-by-side in peace”- the entire audience of Congressmen rose to their feet and applauded at length.

It was at this point, sitting in front of my TV, that I began crying like a little baby. It wasn’t just about Bush’s plans, which we have long been worried about. (This much was to be expected of President Bush). But the fact that the entire audience seemed to react so enthusiastically to these ideas was what made me so upset.

The following is an excerpt from Bush’s State of the Union address:

“We’re also standing against the forces of extremism in the Holy Land, where we have new cause for hope. PALESTINIANS HAVE ELECTED A PRESIDENT WHO RECOGNIZES THAT CONFRONTING TERROR IS ESSENTIAL TO ACHIEVING A STATE WHERE HIS PEOPLE CAN LIVE IN DIGNITY AND AT PEACE WITH ISRAEL. Israelis have leaders who recognize that a peaceful, democratic Palestinian state will be a source of lasting security. This month in Ramallah and Jerusalem, I assured leaders from both sides that America will do, and I will do, everything we can to help them achieve a peace agreement that defines a Palestinian state by the end of this year. The time has come for a Holy Land where a democratic Israel and a democratic Palestine live side-by-side in peace.”

The picture of the Middle East painted by President Bush, unfortunately, has no basis in reality.

Abbas, the President that the Palestinians have elected, DOES NOT recognize that confronting terror is essential to achieving a state where his people can live in dignity and at peace with Israel! As a matter of fact, Abbas is the very same man who was the paymaster for the Munich massacre of summer 1972, where 11 Jewish Israeli athletes were taken hostage and murdered. Abbas, and his group, Fatah, are responsible for more Jews murdered in terror attacks, than even Hamas!

Finally, it is difficult to understand why President Bush ends his State of the Union speech with his fight against extremism in the Holy Land! Who are the extremists? Is it the Jews, who have finally regained their Homeland after 2,000 years of persecution? Or the Arabs, who have vowed not to rest until “their” land has been cleansed of every last Jew.

The hateful sentiments felt by Muslims toward all Jews are derived directly from the Koran, the Muslim Holy Scriptures:

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 176:
A tradition attributed to Muhammad: “The Hour [Resurrection] will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews, and kill them. And the Jews will hide behind the rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say: ‘O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!’”

At the end of his address, President Bush, once again, forcefully stated his desire to divide the Holy Land in order to give the Arabs yet another state.

Who are these people who deserve such incredible compassion? We are not only talking of the thousands of Jews killed by Arab terrorists within the borders of Israel. We surely don’t have to remind you of the 2,973 Americans– Jews and Christians alike– killed in the 9/11 attacks of 2001.

Even if these Arabs in question were the most peace-loving, angelic individuals, President Bush still would not have the right to supercede the word of the G-d of Israel to reapportion his Holy Land.

The G-d of Israel said it clearly in Leviticus 25:23: “AND THE LAND SHALL NOT BE SOLD IN PERPETUITY, FOR THE LAND IS MINE”.

The question I pose to President George W. Bush is as follows:

Would America’s founding fathers, who were Bible-believing Christians, have approved your policies vis-a-vis the Holy Land?

Mr. President, I ask: How will dividing the Holy Land and giving part of it to the Arab Muslim enemy improve the STATE OF YOUR UNION?

Upcoming Activities - Changes 0

Dear Friends,

1) Due to the expected snowstorm, we are postponing our Women in Green Chizuk Trip to Eastern Gush Etzion to next Wednesday, February 6th.

Same exciting program: leaving Jerusalem at 9:15 am for a special day trip. Driving through Har Choma, going to different communities and outposts in eastern Gush Etzion, meeting the pioneers of today. Coming to strengthen but really being strengthened. Call today to reserve seats on the bus:
Anita 050-5777254 or Nadia 050-5500834
Fee: 75 nis roundtrip

2) The demonstration against the violation of the girls honor who had been arrested for three weeks, planned for tomorrow, Tuesday, in front of the Binyamin police station, organized by the families and friends of the girls, was also postponed due to the weather. It will take place some time next week. We will keep you updated.

3) URGENT PHONE & FAX Campaign against the violation of basic human rights of the Jews in Bet Hashalom, Hevron

As we told you before, Bet Hashalom is the house between Hebron and Kiryat Arba that was legally purchased by Jews for close to a million dollars. The video of the legal purchase has been shown to all. Jewish families, with children and babies have been living in that house for the past ten months in the most basic conditions.

Last Sunday  the Supreme court did not accept the demand to expel the Jews from that house and instead has postponed the next court session for another three months. Despite all this, the government of Israel has not allowed the residents of Bet Hashalom to put in windows. Our brothers and sisters in Bet Hashalom, with their children, are left to freeze! Everybody who knows the area, knows how cold it can get there in the winter.

Unbelievably, the government of Israel is doing to the Jews of Bet Hashalom what it does not dare to do to our worst Arab enemies in Gaza: denying them basic human rights!

Imagine what the world media would do if Israel would deny Arab families windows and heat. We would have CNN and BBC filming an entire Hollywood production showing the children hidden under blankets, freezing in the cold, crying. Within a day those Arab families would get windows. But when there is a real violation of basic human rights against Jews, everybody is quiet. Nobody cares.

THIS HAS TO STOP! Women in Green call upon all to bombard with phones and faxes, the office of the Minister of Defense Ehud Barak, who is the one who decides whether or not the Jews of Bet Hashalom will get windows and proper electricity and heat.

The phones and faxes must reach Barak’s spokesman, RONEN MOSHE
His phone number is 972-3-697-5750
His fax number is 972-3-691-6940
It is important that friends of Israel worldwide make the effort TODAY to call and fax and demand to stop the violation of the Jewish basic human rights.

For accuracy’s sake, when you call and fax, please note that the request is to be able to:
a) tar the roof to prevent leakage
b) install windows
c) hook up to municipal electricity

Together, these 3 requests will enable them to supply and retain heat in a normal fashion. At the moment the building is like a sieve and they are heating it with a generator and electric heaters. Often during the day and night the generator can’t handle the pressure and there are many power outages.

Every fax and every phone call can make a difference. Emails are a waste of time for the Israeli politicians do not care about emails sent to them.

If you know journalists, contact them and ask them to write a story about this scandal. Contact your embassy, consulate, local congressman. Ask your Rabbi to contact Barak’s office.

Pressure helps. As the famous verse says: “It is not up to you to finish the work, but you are not free to desist from it”

Please tell us by email what you wrote or said on the phone and how the people at Barak’s office responded.

With Love of Israel,

Ruth and Nadia Matar

Upcoming Activities 0

Dear Friends,

Last night two Arab terrorists entered the yeshiva of Makor Chaim in Kfar Etzyon, dressed like security guards, armed with a gun and a knife. Two heroic counselors did not lose their cool, pulled out their guns and shot the two Arab terrorists dead. Their fast reaction prevented what could have been G-d forbid a massacre. Simultaneously, Arab terrorists North of Jerusalem shot two policemen, killing one and wounding another.

It is clear that since Ehud Olmert has given the Arabs thousands of guns and two million bullets, Arab terror against Jews has increased. Yes, Women in Green accuse PM Olmert and all other members of he Israeli government as being responsible for endangering the Jews. Olmert did not pull the trigger, but Olmert gave terrorists the ability to kill Jews. The day will come, please G-d, when we will put Olmert and Co. on trial for crimes against the Jewish people in their land.

Sometimes, however, it is important we remember that some good things happen in Israel, too. Last week the national camp had some important victories that prove that when we act and protest and do, we can change decrees.

1) BET HASHALOM IN HEVRON
Last Sunday the Supreme Court decided to postpone its decision about Bet Hashalom in Hevron. Thank G-d,the threat of expulsion has been postponed for three months . There is no doubt that the intense work by many of our dear brothers and sisters in Hevron bore fruit. The legal work, the showing of the movie of the buying of the house, the demonstrations ,the Rabbis convention, the willingness to fight…all together had an influence.

Women in Green also were at Bet Hashalom. Despite the rainy and foggy weather, a busload of Women in Green members arrived at Bet Hashalom on Tu Bishvat for a moving chizuk (strengthening) trip. We were welcomed by Yifat, resident of the house who gave us a tour of the house showing us the difficult conditions they were living in (the government does not allow them to put in windows so they covered the openings with plastic sheets!!).

Looking at the families who live there with their small and big children, it was clear to us that the difficult conditions of the house do not deter those heroic pioneers. On the contrary, as Yifat told us, they feel it is their incredible honor to be able to settle one more house in the Land of Israel, thus continuing the work of our forefathers who came to settle the land of Israel.

After seeing an uplifting movie about the new outposts that were created last Hanukka, Women in Green gave the residents of Bet Hashalom some presents. We were told that they needed a toaster oven and water kettles. Those presents were given to them in the name of all the Women in Green in Israel and abroad. In addition we gave each woman living in the house a beautiful scarf. Elazar Brandt came and entertained the children, showing them how to make balloon animals .

2) TUESDAY JANUARY 29th at 5:00pm
DEMONSTRATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE HONOR OF THE GIRLS OF ISRAEL

Another good development this week is that the girls aged 14-15 who had been in jail, arrested for the “crime” of settling the land of Israel, were released. No doubt that their release was hastened thanks to the pressure of many different people and organizations.

Still, in order for this not to happen again, we need to protest the despicable and criminal treatment those girls had to suffer, which included being undressed by policewomen at the police station in Binyamin.

Women in Green call upon all to participate in a demonstration organized by the girls and their families this coming TUESDAY at 5:00pm at the INDUSTRIAL AREA OF BINYAMIN IN FRONT OF THE BINYAMIN POLICE STATION,
with the participation of Rabbis, Members of Knesset and public figures. At the demonstration the participants will demand that the three policemen who were the most vicious, be fired. Their names as the girls remember are: Shallie, Assya and Malul.
For details about the demonstration call Aryeh 052-6070976.

The following video was recently produced to publicize the plight of those young Jewish prisoners, who up until recently were held in prison for refusing to participate with the corrupt, Israeli judicial system. One 16-year-old is still being held. The video exposes the Israeli prison system, which is abusive to religious activists.

This video also has the goal of publicizing the Jewish People’s struggle for its Homeland.

Thanks to Voice Of Judea for the video link.

Those interviewed or who provide commentary include Nadia Matar of Women in Green, Rabbi Yeshayahu Hollander, of the nascent Sanhedrin, Prof. Hillel Weiss, and a young activist encouraging her friends to maintain their faith and hope.

Please help distribute this video. Click here:

3) EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR JONATHAN POLLARD

Emergency Appeal to Minister Eli Yishai
Justice4JPnews - January 24, 2008

Call, write or fax Minister Eli Yishai today!

Tell him: We are with you in your initiative to bring Jonathan Pollard home!

Don’t quit in the middle!

Esther Pollard met with Eli Yishai (07/01/08) and gave him a letter to deliver personally to President Bush. In spite of heavy pressure by Prime Minister Olmert not to deliver the letter, Minister Yishai handed it
personally to the president along with a heart-felt appeal from HaRav Ovadia Yosef calling for the immediate release of Jonathan Pollard.

Especially now, with the departure of Yisrael Beiteinu from the coalition, Minister Eli Yishai is in a position of considerable influence. As the count-down to the release of the Winograd Report continues, Yishai’s personal power is invincible. Now is the time for him to use it, to bring Jonathan Pollard home. Bush personally expressed interest in “helping” Yishai to stay in the coalition. Let’s help Minister Yishai by letting him know we back him, and by imploring him: Don’t quit in the middle! You started the ball rolling, now bring Pollard home!

Call, write or fax Eli Yishai today and every day, as many times a day as you can. Our message is polite and supportive: We are with you Eli! Don’t quit in the middle! Bring Pollard home now!

Fax: 02-666-2908   or 02- 666-2909
Email Yishai’s chief of staff: david.sh@moital.gov.il
Email his office: sar@moit.gov.il
Telephone: 02-666-2251 or 02-666-2252

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR 0

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
FOUND IN THE ISRAELI MEDIA

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Thursday, January 24, 2008

Dear Friends,

I have come across some interesting Letters to the Editor in the recent Israeli Press.

The following is a Letter to the Editor of the JERUSALEM POST, dated January 23, 2008.

“One utterance by Tzipi Livni summed up the demented state of affairs in our leadership today. [R.M.: include in this demented state of affairs in our leadership Israel’s foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni herself!] Speaking on the situation in Gaza, our Foreign Minister said that the Jewish state ‘is the only place in the world that supplies electricity to terrorist organizations that launch rockets at it in return.’

“By making this statement, Livni admitted that the Israeli Government has been an essential partner in launching the more than 6,000 rockets that have landed on Sderot and the western Negev in the past 7 years. Our government’s moral standards are clearly skewed, since providing electricity for a hostile enemy population takes precedence over saving Jewish lives.

“As someone who travels to Sderot regularly, and has witnessed first hand the terrible suffering there, I can say with confidence that it is time for a new Israeli leadership to arise, one that, first and foremost, will take the necessary measures to protect its citizens.”
Josh Hasten.

The following Letters to the Editor appeared in the January 2008 issue of the VOICES Magazine.

1. “NAOMI HARLOW concurs that Bush should have visited Sderot and met its residents. She’d also have sent him to the caravillas of Gush Katif-expellees, and the homes in the North destroyed by Katyushas. Naomi would have liked if Bush met with ‘activists’ arrested for distributing ’seditious’ material, i.e., Arlene Kushner’s investigative report on the real face of Fatah.”

2. “DEVORAH WEISBLATT would have sent Bush to Sderot as well. In addition, Devorah feels he should have gone to an Israeli gan [preschool], or elementary school, and a ‘Palestinian’ gan or elementary school, so that he could compare/contrast what the kids learn in the two places.

“Devorah also wanted George to visit any Machsom (checkpoint) or army base in the country, and meet some of our precious kids who are defending us 24/7/365 against those who would like to destroy us!”

The following, also from VOICES, I find both timely and humorous:

3. “MIMI FULD said that Bush would have gotten a totally different view of Israel and our connection to our land, had he been ‘locked in a room with Nadia Matar (and a chaperone, of course) for an hour- that’d do it!’ We agree.”

Dear Friends,

Arab kassams are raining on Sderot and the Negev, citizens are wounded, a youngster who came all the way from Ecuador to volunteer in Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha was murdered by an Arab sniper from Gaza, shots were fired at Beit Hadassa in Hevron…. and yet, the Olmert government continues its path to national suicide, pushing ahead their plans to uproot outposts and communities in Judea and Samaria. Several of the outposts we settled on Hanukka, have been destroyed by the security forces only to be rebuilt a couple hours later by the wonderful youth who never give up. On the list of possible expulsions is the Bet Hashalom house in Hevron. (see below item 2). Nine Jewish girls age 14 are still in jail for over 3 weeks for the “crime’ of settling the Land of Israel.  (see item 1).

In one word friends…we have lots of work ahead! We learned from our mistakes in Gush Katif: we do not wait for the decree to happen to start reacting. The time has come to initiate activities that will actually even deter the authorities.

Below please find a list of information & activities Women in Green are involved in. Please be part of it. We apologize if some announcements are very last minute.

1) PUBLIC FAST TO RELEASE THE 9 GIRLS AND LETTER OF THE MOTHER OF ONE OF THE GIRLS

Thursday, January 17 there will be a public fast to release 9 girls, most of whom are 14 years old, incarcerated in Neve Tirtza and Ayalon prisons. They have been in jail for over three weeks. Their crime: The police caught them trying to settle at Givat Ha’Or, an empty outpost in a field in the Shomron. For more information, see: http://www.inn.co.il/News/News.aspx/170658

* A prayer vigil will be held at the Neve Tirza prison at 4:00pm.

Letter of one of the mothers of the girls, (names of mother & daughter are not being published for obvious reasons):

January 16,  2008
The American Consulate
American Citizens Services Section
Special Consular Services

Attn: Nili Weinfeld

Dear Ms. Weinfeld,

My name is Y. and I am an American citizen.  My daughter X, who is 14 years old, is also an American citizen.

On December 25, 2007, she was detained with some other girls and boys her age for being in an old abandoned building not far from her home.  Since then she has been incarcerated in a women’s prison for serious criminal offenders and I have not been allowed to see her.  I have been allowed to speak with her by telephone only three times for one or two minutes each.  At the time of her detention and arrest she was seriously abused, and has been denied her civil and legal rights during her time in prison.

The facts are as follows: She, along with 6 other girls and 8 other boys were pulled by the army and police out of an old and long abandoned building.  They were taken to the police station in Sha’ar Binyamin and told to give their names and then they could go home.  The boys did so and went home, and the girls refused, saying that they didn’t do anything wrong.  At this point they were formally arrested and also underwent serious physical and emotional abuse.  I don’t want to go into details about what they were subjected to in this letter, but it is profoundly outrageous and shocking.

Having spent the night at the police station, they were taken the next morning before a judge.  Because they still refused to identify themselves they were sent back to prison on the pretext that the police couldn’t conclude their investigation until the girls identified themselves.  This, of course, is nonsense since the police have known perfectly well who the girls are from the very first night.

Every few days, X and the other girls are brought before a judge and then sent back to prison not a detention center for minors but to Neve Tirza, a prison for hardened and violent criminals.  Neither I nor any of the other parents have been allowed to be present at these hearing and to get a glimpse of our daughters on the pretext that since the girls wouldn’t identify themselves, the authorities couldn’t confirm that we were indeed the parents.  The cruelty with which these children have been treated defies belief.

After two weeks of this they were finally charged: with trespassing (an offense that requires prior knowledge and intent, although no one in the area is aware of this old abandoned building belonging to anyone).

Although convicted murderers are allowed daily hour-long phone calls and weekly visits with families, until recently and only then due to massive public pressure, the girls weren’t allowed to speak to their parents at all much less see them.  In the past week and a half, X’s been allowed to phone me three times, but even then, she’s only allowed to speak for a minute or two, with the guards yelling in the background to just say hello and then hang up the phone.

My X is a little girl, a good and idealistic and very innocent girl who has never done anything wrong, and who is being bullied and intimidated and abused by a legal system that affords more rights and consideration to adults convicted of murder than it has to her.

I am naturally very concerned for her welfare and very afraid about the emotional and psychic damage that has been inflicted on her.  However, X also has health issues that make the conditions of her incarceration worrisome.  She was seriously burned as a baby and since then has had to undergo multiple yearly skin operations.  Good hygiene and staying out of the sun without her special creams are crucial for her health.

I would deeply appreciate it if the consulate could advocate for X and demand that the abuse of her civil and human rights stop and that this ugly persecution of an innocent child come to an end immediately.

I will eagerly await your reply.  If you need any further information, please don’t hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

Y.

KING GEORGE II COMES TO TOWN 0

KING GEORGE II COMES TO TOWN

Letter from Ruth Matar (Women in Green) Jerusalem
Thursday, January 17, 2008

Dear Friends,

Most of us American Jews living in our Jewish Homeland are extremely disappointed in the statements President Bush made during his visit to Israel.

After his departure, the papers printed his FINAL STATEMENTS:

*STATES- Palestine will be national homeland for Palestinians; Israel will be national homeland for Jews.

[R.M.: Not according to the God of Israel. Leviticus 25:23- “And the land shall not be sold in perpetuity; for the land is Mine”]

*BORDERS- Must adjust 1949 cease-fire lines to reality on the ground to ensure contiguity of Palestinian state and protect Israel.

[R.M.: The borders of the Jewish Holy Land were already set by the G-d of Israel. Deuteronomy 11:24]

*REFUGEES-Solution will be through establishment of Palestinian state and international mechanism, including compensation.

[R.M.: Who made them refugees? We sure didn’t!]

*JERUSALEM-Tough issue for both sides, politically and religiously, resolving which poses most complicated challenge.

[R.M.: Not at all a complicated challenge for the Master of the universe. Jerusalem is his holy Mountain. Isaiah 66:20]

*SECURITY-No Palestinian state as long as terror persists. U.S. committed to Israel’s security.

[R.M.: Psalms 28:7- “Hashem is my strength and my shield…”]

*IMPLEMENTATION-Only after the sides meet road-map commitments.

[R.M.: Not in this world…]

Throughout his visit, three major English language papers in Israel were full of giant headlines announcing Bush’s commands:

*OUTPOSTS MUST BE EVACUATED

*BUSH TELLS ISRAEL TO ‘END THE OCCUPATION’, AND KICKSTARTS A DRAMATIC COUNTDOWN: A PEACE TREATY BY THE TIME I LEAVE OFFICE’

*“TAKE CARE OF OLMERT”, BUSH URGES
-Lieberman, Yishai implored to keep P.M. in power

[R.M.: Of course Bush has an interest in keeping his loyal puppet in power!]

U.S. president George W. Bush blatantly intervened in Israeli politics at Thursday’s working dinner at the Prime Minister’s residence, calling on the politicians there to support Prime Minister Olmert. Bush spoke at length with Shas chairman Eli Yishai and Israel Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman. “Take care of Olmert, so he will stay in power”, Bush said. “He is a strong leader. Israeli politics is like karate, you never know when the next chop will come.”

*BUSH ON A MIDEAST PEACE ‘TIMETABLE’
PRESIDENT BUSH SAYS HE IS CONFIDENT OF ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN TREATY
-Ramalah, West Bank: President George W. Bush, making his first visit to the Palestinian territories, expressed confidence here Thursday that an Israeli-Palestinian peace treaty would be signed during his last year in office, and urged Israel not to disrupt efforts to build stronger Palestinian security forces, which he called essential to the creation of a democratic Palestine.

[R.M.: This reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood: “My, what big guns you have…” “The better to shoot you with, my dear…”]

*BUSH: PALESTINE CAN’T BE A “SWISS CHEESE”

[R.M.: And Israel can?!]

-President tells Palestinians he is confident a viable, contiguous state will emerge.

-Ramallah- Palestinian Authority officials here had mixed reactions to Thursday’s talks with U.S. President George W. Bush in the Mukata presidential compound.

-Portraits of Arafat were visible almost everywhere in the Mukata.

-The source said the PA did not hang U.S. flags in the city [Ramallah] to avoid “provoking” residents.

-Bush, who spoke beneath a portrait of Arafat, also stressed the importance of establishing a contiguous Palestinian state. “Swiss Cheese” isn’t going to work when it comes to the territory of a state.

-Bush also outlined the tracks for the talks over the core issues, which include the future of Jerusalem, borders, refugees, water, settlements and prisoners.

-During the press conference, PA policemen used clubs and tear gas to disperse hundreds of demonstrators who took to the streets to protest against Bush’s visit. The demonstrators shouted: “Bush is a murderer” and “Bush go home” as they tried to march toward downtown’s Manara square, (the Presidential Compound).

[R.M.: Note the difference between the Jewish and Arab reception of President George Bush: American flags were hung along all the main streets of Jerusalem; the PA did not hang any US flags in Ramallah to avoid “provoking” residents.]

* * *

On Friday, the last day of Bush’s three-day visit to Israel, he spoke during an hour long tour of Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial Hall of Names.

Bush’s eyes welled with tears at least twice during his visit to Yad Vashem.

“I wish as many people as possible would come to this place. It is a sobering reminder that evil exists, and a call that when evil exists we must resist it,” the U.S. leader said after laying a wreath and lighting a torch in memory of the victims.

Isn’t it ironic that President Bush speaks of the importance of resisting evil, when he himself tries to deprive the very victims of the Holocaust of the homeland that they finally gained after the War?

Isn’t President Bush promoting evil by trying to carve a terrorist state out of the land which the G-d of Israel promised the Jews as an everlasting inheritance?

With Blessings and Love for Israel,

Ruth Matar

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES 0

Dear Friends,

Two issues in this mail related to President Bush’s visit to Israel
1) MONDAY, JANUARY 7th at 2:30 pm Jerusalem City Council to dedicate Pollard Square
2) TUESDAY, JANUARY 8th at 6:00pm gathering at Har Choma from where we will set out to build in Judea and Samaria

Women in Green call upon all to participate in both of these very important events.

1) JERUSALEM CITY COUNCIL TO DEDICATE POLLARD SQUARE
On Monday, January 7, 2008, at 2:30 PM, the Jerusalem City Council, led by Representative Mina Fenton (NRP), has scheduled a renaming ceremony to take place at Kikar Paris (Paris Square) in Jerusalem – a public square situated midway between the American Consulate and the Prime Minister’s Residence – to rename it in honor of Jonathan Pollard.

The name change to Freedom for Jonathan Pollard Square anticipates the arrival of President George Bush in Israel (January 9, 2008) and marks the start of Jonathan Pollard’s 23rd year in prison. The Jerusalem City Council declares that the name change will take effect immediately and remain in effect UNTIL Jonathan Pollard is released and returned to Israel.

Members of the Jerusalem City Council, Jonathan Pollard’s wife Esther and other public figures will be in attendance. The ceremony is being arranged in coordination with the Jerusalem-based Committee to Bring Jonathan Pollard Home (HaVaad) and Justice4JP.

It is urgent that as many people as possible attend in order to show support for the release of Jonathan Pollard. The greater our numbers in attendance at this event, the stronger a message will be sent to President Bush and to Ehud Olmert to FREE JONATHAN POLLARD NOW!!

Please reprint, recirculate, and forward this message to all of your friends, family, and associates in Israel. Urge everyone to attend.

For further information visit www.jonathanpollard.org (English) or www.FreePollard.org (Hebrew), or email us at justice4jp@gmail.com (English) or FreePollard@gmail.com (Hebrew). Please be there!!!

2) WE CONTINUE TO BUILD THE LAND OF ISRAEL!!

PM Olmert has said it bluntly in an exclusive interview today with the Jerusalem Post: he wants Israel to go back to the 1967 borders. It is enough to remind us all that Abba Eban has labelled those borders the “Aushwitz borders”.

Incredulously, we are being told that Jews are no more allowed to build in their homeland and in their capital. If in any other country in the world we would hear on the news that such and such Prime Minister does not allow the Jews to build and expand in their own Land, that Prime Minister would be called a vicious antisemite. How exactly are we to describe a government of the Jewish State of Israel that applies such antisemitic decrees against Jews?

If, once upon a time, the idea of “building anywhere and everywhere in the land of Israel” was the main slogan of Zionism, today “building the land of Israel” has become the tool to defy the decrees of our internal and external enemies. And thus, we urge  all of you to join in the gathering planned on the eve of Bush’s visit,  NEXT TUESDAY, JANUARY 8th. We will meet at 6:00pm in Jerusalem at Har Choma (Chomat Shmuel). From there, after a few speeches by rabbis and public figures, we will accompany the trucks filled with building materials to build and expand settlements in Judea and Samaria. The message is clear: There is no Jerusalem without Judea and Samaria and the entire Land of Israel, and there is no Land of Israel without Jerusalem.

Details about the settling effort can be heard in a interview in English that Nadia Matar gave to Arutz 7 on the day of the court case of the seven girls who had been arrested for the “crime” of settling a hill in the Land of Israel.

For more details about the girls court case you can click on GIVAT HA’OR ACTIVISTS STILL REFUSING TO COOPERATE.

As we told you in a previous email, people can join the struggle:
a) By sponsoring a truck filled with building materials. Each truck costs $5000. Our goal is to be able to get at least ten trucks. We already received donations from all over the world and we thank all those who already gave but we are still far away from our ten-truck-goal. Details as to how to donate will be posted at the bottom of this email.

b) You can also help by coming to the gathering in Har Choma (Chomat Shmuel) and making sure all your relatives and friends will join. It is very important that many people attend. Help us by spreading the word.

If you plan on coming by the Jerusalem public transportation, take bus no. 14 to Har Choma.
Instructions as to how to get there (with thanks to Suzy Dym from Mattot Arim):

If you drive to Har Homa from the Tel Aviv  Jerusalem highway. just before you reach Jerusalem:

7. At the second traffic light make a left.
8. Go straight to end of the road, which I think is the first light.
9. At the end of the road make a right.
10. Go straight to Derech Hebron.
11. Make a right onto Derech Hebron and stay in the left lane.
12. Go straight for about half a kilometer. You will see an Alon gas station on your left.
